North shore Oahu Day 1

We had a flight to catch at 9:20 in the morning to one of the most coveted vacation place, Hawaii. We got up early in the morning. Saurabh could not sleep after 4 am, either due to excitement or sickness. Poor thing came down with some bug, thanks to all the daycare tours. The excitement was nevertheless there. Krishnaman made us omelette roll and Ruchitammai packed us lunch. We left home around 7:30 and reached San Jose airport by 7:50. We had plenty of time to go through the check-in and security process. Our flight was Hawaiian airlines and it was on time. Samhita was thrilled by the airoplanes "running", "jumping" and flying. She enjoyed a lollypop while the flight took off. Hawaiian airlines served breakfast, snacks and cocktails on the flight. When we were approaching Honolulu, we could see from high up in the sky the beautiful lush green island surrounded by white sand beaches and gorgeous water. Upon arrival, we got our bags and rented a car from budget. The queue was so long that it took almost an hour for us to get a car. We decided to stop by at Costco to buy some groceries and wine. Then we had a late lunch at a popular shrimp truck called Giovanni's in Haleiwa. The original Giovanni's is in Kahuku but I guess they must have opened another one in Haleiwa. We ordered Scampi made from shrimp, garlic, butter, red chilly and lime. We had to wait close to half an hour for our food. Meanwhile, Samhita befriended couple of boy hanging out there. Guys can be so boisterous. They were enacting dinosaurs and growling and kicking dirt and ice. Samhita found it very fascinating and realized what fun growling is. She even went and hugged one of the boys. Awww...
We checked into our apartment in Kuilima estate at around 5 pm. The apartment was well furnished and well stocked. It had a Lai (patio) facing the golf ground. It had a nice cool breeze. We quickly changed our clothes and rushed to the turtle bay to catch the sunset. We couldn't see sunset because of the clouds. Samhita enjoyed the sand and going into the ocean. After the sunset we decided to go to one of the restaurants in the turtle bay resort for dinner. We first tried Roy's beach house but they require a reservation. We then went to the Kula Grill where we ordered Kula's garlic shrimp and Kona Kampachi. The food was not great but it sure was expensive. Saurabh was starting to feel worse so we headed back to our apartment and hit the bed early.
